issue getting your account registered, uploading pictures, etc. We
appreciate your patience and feedback during the beta testing phase

User Accounts
Do I need a user account?
You will need an account if you want to create a new Skyenimal,
vote on your favorites or add information about any Skyenimal
or animal.
You do not need an account to read or browse
Skyenimals.
How do I create an account?
Account creation is easy! Simply fill out the
new account request. Your account will need to be linked to a
valid email address so we can confirm you are a real person.
Skyenimals.com will not make your email visible to other users
and will not share your email with other companies.
I signed up but I never got an activation email?
Please contact our support team using the Support link in the
footer of this page. Please tell us the account/email you used
to register and we will either active your account manually
or have the system re-send the activation email.
How do I make my pets visible under my account?
If a picture of your pet is already in the system, browse to that
animal and click on the "add to my pets" link. If your pet's picture
is not already in the system, upload your pet image from the proper
animal page. After the pet is accepted into the system you can
browse to that animal page and click the "add to my pets" link.
What are those (#)'s show next to the user names?
The number in parentheses next to the user name shows how many skyenimals
each user has rescued.
My account received a warning. Now what?
One of the volunteer skyenimals.com site administrators found
something submitted by your account inappropriate for all ages.
Please note that crude images and text are not allowed. Please
review the "Content Management" section below for more specifics.
If you feel the warning is erroneous or was due to someone
else accessing you account please contact us and we will gladly
work with you to resolve the problem.
If this occurs please make sure you are the only person with access
to your account and password. Please make sure to always log out
of skyenimals.com after using it on a shared or public comptuer.

How do I Create a new Skyenimal?
If you already have a picture or drawing you should use the Create->upload page.
How do I make a new Skyenimal using the drawing tool?
If you would like to draw a picture online using your computer you can do
this from the Create->Draw Picture (online) page. Your web browse must have a
Java plugin installed and enabled for online drawing. Watch a video demonstration of the online drawing tool for a brief overview.
Why did the name of my Skyenimal change?
To avoid duplicate names the Skyenimals Admin team will
sometimes need to slightly change the name you chose for
your Skyenimals species. Your Skyenimal will still appear
in the most recent list and the Image Credit and Skyenimal
Credits will still be given to your account.
Add Animal
How do I add an additional dog breed?
If you would like to add a new breed or sub-species to a group
of animals just submit it like any other animal. Please include
aditional information in the "Picture comment" field. For example,
"This is a Whippet which is a breed of Dog".
If the site administrator cannot determine which group to place
the submitted animal in you may be asked to re-submit with more
information.
Skyenimal Credits
What are Skyenimal Credits?
Skyenimal credits are pretend money that you can earn and spend on
the Skyenimals web site. Earn credits by uploadings pictures and facts!
What can I use Skyenimal Credits for?
Users can "adopt" Skyenimals and animals using Skyenimal Credits.
When you rescue a Skyenimal it will appear in a separate
section in your user profile page. Rescue as many as you
can!
Rescue Center
What is the Rescue Center?
The Rescue Center is a place where you can go to "rescue" Skyenimals and
animals using Skyenimals credits. After you have rescued an animal your
rescue ranking may increase and you can earn rescue rewards and trophies.
Which animals are available in the Rescue Center?
Any Skyenimal or animal can appear in the Rescue Center. However,
at any given time there are only a limited number of animals available
in the rescue center. The animals available for rescue change
frequently, about every 5 minutes. If you don't see what you want
try back a little later and you like the choices better.
Skyenimals Sorter
What is the Skyenimals Sorter?
The Skyenimals sorter is a way to find out what animals, images and
pictures Skyenimals users like best. Anybody can use the sorter, and
they can use it as much as they want.
What are the Sorter Stats?
Sorter At Bats and Sorter Hits data is kept for every
image in the Skyenimals system. For those of you who know baseballi or cricket,
Sorter average is like a players batting average!
An "at bat" means that the image was in a contest in the sorter. A
"hit" means the image was selected as the favorite image by the
user. The Sorter Stats page
shows results of overall statistics gathered by the sorter.
Can I submit articles for your animal blog?
Yes! Do you like animals? Do you like writing? If you are interested in getting
more writing experience or exposure for your writing skills please feel free to
submit an article for the Skyenimals Animal Blog for Kids. Anyone can submit an
original article, no age limit required. (Note: if you are under 16 we need your
parent's email and approval to use your name and content on the blog.)
Full credit will be given to the author and a link to the author's
personal web site can be included in the blog if you like. After we
approve and post your article on the blog we will announce it to our
followers on Facebook and Twitter. Your article will reach hundreds
(or possibly thousands) of people! Contact us using the contact link
at the bottom of the page if interested.
Content
Can I upload pictures I find on the internet?
You should only upload photos or pictures which you or a person you
know has created. Unless you are the original owner, if you upload content
from known web sites, such as worth1000.com, the content cannot be accepted.
Who owns the rights to the images?
Each image on the page has an "Image Credit" field which lists the
owner of the image. Users are asked to only upload original artwork
or pictures which they have personally taken. If you see an image
which is being used without permission or not properly credited
please Contact Us and we will make an effort to promptly correct
the issue.
Can I reuse art and photos that I find on Skyenimals?
No. All original works found in the Skyenimals web site are the copyrighted
property of the submitting artist. If you want to use a work you will
need to ask permission from the artist, who is free to set whatever
terms and conditions they wish. You should always ask permission
before using any work which was created by another person.
Where do the animal facts come from?
The majority of the real animal facts in the Skyenimals database come
from either the Smithsonian Institution Animal: The Definitive Visual
Guide To The World's Wildlife, 2001, 2005, Wikipedia and
Brookfield Zoo, Brookfield, Illinois. Several other sources have
been used as well, but to a lesser degree. If you find a fact that you
think is inaccurate or erroneous please let us know using the Contact Us
link at the bottom of the page. Facts on made up animals (Skye-nimals) are
provided by site users.
Will drawings I make or upload be kept forever?
No. To keep the site fresh older user generated content may be purged by the site
administrators are their sole discretion. If you have created artwork using the online
Skyenimals animal drawing tool that you wish to save please save a copy on your home
computer.
Where do the wallpaper images come from?
All wallpaper images were taken (or created) directly by close friends or
family of the Skyenimals.com admin team. Unless otherwise noted images are
all Copyright CancunSkye Software, LLC. The images may be used for personal
use only. Any redistribution is not allowed without the written consent of
CancunSkye Software, LLC. If you are interested in reusing any of the
wallpaper images please contact us.
What is the Skyenimals scratch arcade?
The Scratch arcade are small arcade games (made using the
scratch language) by students in middle school or high school.
These projects are made by the students for fun and for
a learning experience. If you have a Scratch program you want
us to feature you can let us know using the "Contact Us" link below.
What are those +1's for?
The +1's a way to let other users of the internet know that you like
the page or image you are looking at. The Skyenimals team may use the +1 score
to judge the popularity of skyenimals and animals. This data may be used
to show user favorites, award virtual "trophies", etc. You will need a
google account to use the +1 feature. Just click on the +1 and the link
will show you how you can create a google account.
What conservation status are you using?
Whenever possible we will use the Conservation Status values as defined by IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature).
How do you prevent inappropriate material from being loaded onto the site?
All data submissions from users are manually approved by volunteer
Skyenimals.com site administrators before the content is allowed on
the main site.
How do you decide what is inappropriate?
The goal is to keep the site safe and appropriate for all ages,
even early childhood. Text or images containing crude or
suggestive content will not be allowed. All decisions are at
the discretion of the Skyenimals.com site administrator,
whose decision is final.
I have found something that I think is inappropriate. What should I do?
Please report this using the support "Contact Us" link at the bottom of
most pages on the site. Please let us know where the content was
seen and we will address it as soon as possible.
